Journal Vision and Mission
Fungal Taxa: Systematics & Evolution is an online, international, peer-reviewed, diamond open-access journal devoted to fungal taxonomy, systematics, and evolutionary biology. Our vision is to strengthen the global exchange of knowledge in fungal systematics by providing a rigorous, integrative, and accessible platform for documenting fungal diversity. While the journal is international in scope, it emphasizes contributions from under-explored ecosystems and regions, ensuring that hidden fungal lineages are brought into the scientific record. We are committed to open science: all published content is freely and immediately available to readers worldwide, removing barriers to knowledge and accelerating the advancement of fungal systematics.
Scope of the Journal
Fungal Taxa: Systematics & Evolution publishes original research articles, monographs, taxonomic revisions, nomenclatural notes, and invited reviews. Core areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
● Taxonomy and nomenclature of fungi and fungus-like organisms
● Phylogenetic and evolutionary studies
● Monographs, revisions, and species descriptions
● Integrative approaches combining morphology, molecular phylogenetics, and ecology
● Documentation of fungal diversity from terrestrial, freshwater, and marine ecosystems
● Historical and conceptual perspectives on fungal systematics
Preference is given to well-documented studies that advance the stability and clarity of fungal taxonomy and evolutionary understanding.
